I will keep adding resources for designing scientific figures, posters, and presentations. The following list includes both English and Japanese resources. The order of resources in each section is random and has no meaning.
General
Personally, I felt that using black slides in the middle of the presentation was a bit weird. However, other points discussed on the website are very practical and useful.
Share Your Research: How to Give a Good Talk by iBiology courses
Susan McConnell "Designing effective scientific presentations" 2011
Felice C. Frankel (2024) "The Visual Elements - Design" The University of Chicago Press.
Woolston (2016) - Conference presentations: Lead the poster parade
Font
I have used the "Inter" font for the past several years, and it looks good for presentation slides and posters. The "Inter" is a San Serif font designed by Rasmus Andersson. GitHub Google Fonts
Colour Pallets
Useful website for deciding colour palettes.
